Following a fantastic turnout for the debut of ArtBlock at the 1st Wednesday evening in Downtown Pleasanton in May, the second edition of ArtBlock is ready to impress.

It goes off on Wednesday night, 6pm to 9pm, June 5th right on Angela Street at Main St.

June’s edition of the First Wednesday Street Party will feature even more new artists, photographer Sue Evans, music right on the street by Lisa Marie Johnson and Eric Rozran, and hometown Pleasanton favorite artist Debbie Wardrope.<br />ArtBlock (each first Wednesday of the Summer months) features award-winning local artists, sculptors and jewelry crafters, all who specialize in exquisite, hand-made arts and crafts.  During each event, a featured artist will be in attendance to offer live demonstrations and discuss their work.  ArtBlock will occur through the duration of each event on Angela Street (at Main) at the same location as the Pleasanton Saturday Farmer’s Market.

June’s Featured Photographer Sue Evans.  She began photographing as a child and developed and printed black and whites. While serving as a ranger in Glacier National Park, she took hundreds of pictures and became a professional. Nature is her passion. She takes solo trips to capture new images and discover new parts of herself.

Renowned artist Robert Bissell makes his debut at ArtBlock.  His award winning work is focused on the natural world and animals, with paintings of scenes that range from bears to frogs to bunny rabbits and whimsical bees and butterflies. His paintings deliver an experience that is rooted in the natural world yet brushed with fun and fantasy.

Painter Joann Blake’s colorful artwork has been showcased at the Renaissance Hotel in Wailea, Maui, for over 20 years where she has maintained a loyal following.  Today she has relocated and is greatly inspired by beautiful California surroundings.  Her oils are a blend of impressionism and realism with vivid colors.

A second new ArtBlock display will feature the works of Joe and Karen Mileli, members of the Pleasanton and Livermore art leagues. They craft hand-made pendants which range from conventional  dihroic to streaky and hand painted ones.  As an added benefit, whenever one is purchased, 100% of the net proceeds go to Children’s Healthy Smile Project, a local non-profit.

June’s Featured Artist
Debbie Wardrope, an Artblock Favorite and famous known for her colorful pastel landscape paintings depicting iconic hometown scenes of Pleasanton’s Mainstreet, Sunol, downtown Danville and Walnut Creek in addition to the scenic wineries of Livermore. Wardrope’s award winning work is adored in the Tri-Valley and she will be there Wednesday night in person to show off her latest work and engage ArtBlock visitors.

ArtBlock’s Lively Music:
June’s ArtBlock has scheduled a pair of popular musicians, Eric Rozran and Lisa Marie Johnson. They were previously featured at Pleasanton’s Sizzling Saturday events and for night gigs at Pleasanton’s Red Coat’s pub.
